Toy Solider

So beginning my night off for a quite drink quickly turned into running around the town to different bars trying to find a band that really caught my attention to do my next blog on. Before I go on with the review I would like to point out that I seem to find the best bands to review on nights that I have not planned to go on the hunt.

So TOY SOLDIER, a Cork based band has to be one of the best techno pop band I have heard in a while. While I was quite intoxicated at the time of listening to them last night I still found my self moving my hips and tapping my foot and mouthing the words to the catchy pop lyrics and beautiful sound, If I could see sound I would say that they certainly would have been given off a metallic purple or pink.

This being said I obviously couldn’t have done my review while the devils Liquor was coursing through my blood system, so this morning I have to go back onto the interwebs and do a little research on my good friend Google. Needless to say my opinion had not been changed with my sober head in work.

They remind me so much of a kind Jessie J/Cute is what we aim for techno mix. Considering the catchy lyrics and the fast moving dance music this makes them amazing to watch live. If you have ever danced round your room with your earphones turned up high and imaging flashing lights while pretending that your on a stage of your own makes Toy Soldier a perfect match for you!

They have the ability to give the illusion of a full stage band while in fact only consisting of three people doing what they love in a small packed out bar.  Another point being that there stage presence is something envy for those who are frightened of performing to three people. I love when bands give you a little chat while also doing the show, as it seems to make the experience somewhat more personal for the audience. I have had the pleasure of seeing both sides of this spectrum where the band dose nothing but chat or they just go from one song to the other. Toy Soldier seems to have gotten the balance right in the middle.

The band also isn’t as rude as some local bands that you may find. I was able to approach them in an annoying fashion and hassle them for a photo and they were only too happy to help the cause and pose for one.
I also was able to snap a sneaky one with them. This for my own personal collection of band photographs.

My overall say to this experience would have to be if your looking for a night full of glow bands, music to move your body to and catchy lyrics then TOY SOLDIER is certainly what your looking for. The flashy lights and techno feel will give you the feeling of being at an underground rave all while standing in your local bar have a few drinks with a couple of friends, or as I discovered this morning, sitting at home while cleaning, you’ll still feel the need to move your hips in a sexy man hunting fashion while getting the floors mopped and sparking.

Don’t believe me? I dare you to challenge the sound for yourself!
